President Del says TulsaRotary.com will be recognized as one of the best in Rotary world
By GasserOnline Correspondent, TIM COLWELL
It wasn’t that President Del Dreyer was actually trapped inside the club's new website, but it appeared that way as members were treated on April 7 to a video that explained the features of a newly launched www.tulsarotary.com.
Through the creative – and pro-bono – talents of Tulsa video producer Jimmy Bloyed of Bloyed Creative, an on-screen mini-Del walked around each part of the homepage and explained where users could be linked to upcoming programs, important announcements. Membership info and mini-videos about Rotary and the work we doing in Nicaragua and around the world. At times, Del appeared confused when he accidently stumbled upon the website of Burning Man, an annual new-age festival of free spirits in Arizona.
It was all in fun and a creative way to introduce members to the sleek design and easy-to-use features.
"The site is an excellent place to refer prospective members," said President Del. "In the world of Rotary we are a Top Ten club, and this site reflects that Top Ten status. In fact, this may the website that sets the standard for other clubs, large and small."
From the podium Del thanked Paul Gilling, Gilling Post Production, who also donated the editing and other post-production services, working with Bloyed.
Chairing the website re-design initiative over the past year is Rotarian Mike Homan. Denise Chambers, coordinated the effort and served as liaison with Cubic, the Tulsa web design firm contracted by Rotary. From Cubic, Chris Oakes and Caleb Oiler attended the April 7 luncheon and were recognized by President Del.
Other Rotarians who were a valuable part of the website committee and re-design team included Brian Bovaird, Louann Buhlinger, Ron Butler, Melissa Clark, Tim Colwell, Stu McDaniel, president-elect Bob McKenzie and Steve Perkins. Also, club executive director Donna Mercier was an integral part of this major club initiative.
